Star-violinist Christian Tetzlaff will receive an OPUS KLASSIK award for ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ at the OPUS KLASSIK gala in Berlin in October 2026. Christian Tetzlaff was earlier nominated for his Ondine recording of the Elgar & Adès violin concertos together with the BBC Philharmonic and John Storgårds.
The OPUS KLASSIK is one of Germany's most prestigious annual awards for classical music, designed to honour outstanding artists and recordings. It is awarded by a jury of industry experts including representatives from record labels, publishers, and media with the winners celebrated during a televised gala in October 2026 at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
Joel Valkila, Managing Director and CEO of the Ondine record label, comments: “This award affirms the position of Christian Tetzlaff as one of the most important violinists of our era. It is a deep honour for our label to work with an artist like him, and we are eagerly looking forward to our future collaborations!”
In 2023, Christian Tetzlaff won his first OPUS KLASSIK award for an album of Schubert’s piano trios and chamber works.
